Pat
Wroge, born in St. Louis, Missouri is the oldest of five children. He
began playing saxophone at an early age and gives great credit to his
public school music instructors for his first introduction to the world
of music. Pat credits his parents and Grandfather C. for his first inspiration
to the world of music.
Pat started his college education at the University of Missouri-Columbia on classical saxophone but soon discovered not only an intense passion for jazz but also an amazing aptitude. During his time in Columbia he studied with Fred Hemke Jr. and played in numerous groups including the Kansas City Street Band and the national jazz chart topper Jim Widner Big Band. After college Pat relocated to Boston, Massachusetts to study and soon enrolled in the Berklee College of Music. There, he worked with some of the greatest artists in jazz including Walter Beasley, Kenwood Dennard, Jim Odgren, Shannon LeClaire, Hal Crook, Jeff Freidman and Jackie Beard. ! Since graduating from Berklee
Pat has been "hitting the pavement" playing with many groups
throughout the Boston metro area including Boston Music Award nominee
Pressure Cooker. He has also worked on a recording project with Don
Grusin. Pat is a full time musician and is working hard to develop
his own unique sound both through his playing and his composing.
By fusing elements of classic and smooth jazz with an urban groove
he has developed a style that is both laid back and extremely funky.
He is proud to be announcing the release of his debut solo album "Halfway" featuring
four new original tunes. |
